Artist Statement

With animation, I strive to create a world that transports viewers beyond reality and into the realm of fantasy. If I can invite the audience to step away from their daily routines, even for a moment, then my mission is accomplished.

For me, animation is not just a medium, tool, or technique—it is a close companion, one that gives form to my thoughts and emotions through hand-painted movements on paper. Animation has life, and it gives life. In an era defined by speed and restlessness, I have chosen one of the slowest, most time-consuming techniques to craft my films. This deliberate process allows viewers to immerse themselves in a meditative, peaceful experience, engaging with the art not just visually, but emotionally and spiritually.

My storytelling through animated paintings is an expression of the fantasy world that exists within my mind. Growing up in a Persian family, my childhood was filled with folktales and epic stories, lovingly told by my father. His passion for poetry and storytelling surrounded my siblings and me with literature, sparking my imagination from an early age. Even as a child, I spent my free time creating stories in my head, drawing characters, cutting them out, and using them as paper puppets to act out my imagined worlds. Though I didn’t always know the origins of my stories, I soon realized that I had the ability to build entire worlds and develop characters through storytelling.

During my years studying Film Animation and Film Production, I explored a range of themes, from politics to ancient folklore. However, I eventually realized that many of these ideas stemmed from external influences rather than my own personal creativity. In 2018, I made a conscious decision to fully embrace my imagination as the source of my art, allowing it to transport me—and my audience—to a place beyond the limits of physical reality. Through my animated films, I aspire to share this hidden world with my viewers, offering them a glimpse into a realm that exists only in the mind’s eye.
